Project Type: Re design the existing feature
Role: Individual UX Designer
Duration: 2 Weeks
Task Details: User needs to define the Enterprise organizational hierarchy level to get the information each level wise. To obtain information at each level, the user must first specify the Enterprise organizational hierarchy.

Task Details: User needs to define the Enterprise organizational hierarchy level to get the information each level wise. To obtain information at each level, the user must first specify the Enterprise organizational hierarchy.
Problem Statement: User has to provide min one level and max four levels of their Org hierarchy. In the current interaction there is a form with predefined input fields which is confusing user to define the hierarchy.
The user must provide at least one and up to four levels of their organizational hierarchy. In the current interaction, there is a form with predefined input fields, which confuses the user to specify the hierarchy.

Current Form Design
Current form where user has to take a significant efforts to input his data
My Approach:
User Feedback Approach – I had a call with 4 to 5 users with the internal key stakeholders to understand the way they are currently performing a task. I have analyzed it in the below format.
I spoke with four to five people to learn how they are currently completing a task. I have evaluated it in the format shown below.
General feedback:
a) The pre defined labels of level are not much relevant as I have another level in my organization.

General feedback:
a) The pre defined labels of level are not much relevant as I have another level in my organization.
b) Not sure of the use of ‘Max no of levels’ field which is mentioned at very first, as even when I give input of two levels it is showing me 4 levels which is confusing.
c) When attempting to input information, I often find myself confused about the required fields or the appropriate format for data entry.
d) The task should be easy and clear to perform.
e) The lack of guidance or prompts within the form exacerbates the usability issues.
f) To define the hierarchy I think there should be a better solution needed.
Empathy Map
Solution
Design option - A
In this design, an interaction was incorporated to provide the user with a feeling of hierarchy, one below the other.
**Note: below is clickable prototype you can play with it.

An example of negative scenario how can we show mandatory field is missed.
Design option - B
A simple form design with a hierarchical structure that the user may shuffle and rearrange.

AB Testing
To test the created both approach, I did an AB testing with users and took comments for the same.
User comments for A design:
1- Intuitive screen design.
2- Able to feel the hierarchy view while entering the data.
3- Easy and clear interaction.
4- Can relate to data input field.
5- Usability is improved in comparison to old design.
6- Don’t need any help while mentioning the hierarchy as it is a self-explanatory interaction.

Suggestion:
“It will be helpful if I can shuffle the levels.”
“If we can color code or give numbering to the levels”
User comments for B design:
1- Again it looks like a form design.
2- Able to relate data input field.
3- Looks ok, yet clean and neat interaction and layout.
4- Shuffle function is good.
Suggestion:
It will be good if I can add numbering and shuffle function to A design to make that perfect.
Final Design
Based on user comments, the final version of the form design is shown below.
